Leaving doesn’t arrive as a decision. It shows up quietly, without urgency. Not as “I’m done,” but as a question that appears and stays nearby.
It comes up while you’re doing ordinary things. Fixing something again. Planning around weather again. Running the same mental math you’ve run for years without noticing it before.
You’re not trying to escape. You’re not looking for relief. You’re just aware that staying requires effort, and that effort has been adding up longer than you realized.
From the outside, nothing signals change. The systems still work. The routines still hold. If someone asked, you’d probably say you’re fine, because nothing has failed.
The thought isn’t about where you’d go or how you’d leave. It’s simply the awareness that staying is an active choice, not a settled one. That realization lands quietly, but it doesn’t disappear.
